The Mind Job - official trailer is out (like someone's going to make an unofficial one)

Now, I know the normal order of events is to put the trailer out there first and then, once you've created a bit of hype, you bring out the film.

Well, my thinking is, get the film out there and create some real buzz for the trailer.

And now, all of you who keep harassing me with ’JJ, I love the film, but when's the f*ing trailer coming out??!', can finally leave me in peace and let me get on with the casting.

Please check it out. And even pleaser, pass it on to that network of friends you keep bragging about:

The full film will be available later in the year. More on that later in the year.

Fresh from L.A. Comedy Shorts

45278_639914136025417_577203932_n

I’ve just returned from the L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival and I thought I’d give you a quick update on how it all went.

(A little copy/paste…) L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival is currently the largest comedy film festival in the United States. LACS is a four-day, non-stop celebration of comedic short films that was recently named one of Moviemaker Magazine's "25 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee" and honored as one of the "Top Ten Film Festivals in the U.S.”.

Having been there, I buy all of that. It was a great festival, well run, well attended, quality selections and the organisers were all incredible – BFF-standard. Unreal for real.

There were about 80 short films in the festival and ‘The Mind Job’ played in the last session, so I'm guessing the programmed it from good to awesome. I’m happy to report the film was very well received. Many people came up to me after the screening and raved about it which was great, kind of why you do this whole film-making thing. There was even a bit of a buzz around the film after it screened and some who missed it told me they kept hearing people talking about it, much to their frustration.

We were also listed in the ‘L.A. Weekly’ as one of the ‘Ten films you must see from the festival’ and NBC used a still from ‘The Mind Job’ in their coverage of the festival.

So, all in all, a great festival. A success. I am now back in Sydney, catching up on the sleep I didn’t have over there.

Stay tuned for my next endeavours…

A good week for 'The Mind Job'

News just to hand: We've just learned we've been accepted into both the LA Comedy Shorts Film Festival (not to be confused with the LA Comedy Fest) and the Palm Beach International Film Festival. Happy days.
Anyone in LA around 4–7 April?

A moment of your time...

To anyone with a charitable heart and five minutes to spare...

I'm looking for a little input with a new film script I'm working on.
I'd really appreciate your input, and it shouldn't take too long at all.

Willing? Curious? Please click here.

LA Comedy Fest

Official2012white_500w

Some good news just to hand.
We've just learned 'The Mind Job' has been selected for the LA Comedy Fest.
Great news! A perfect festival for this type of film. And hopefully one that will provide some opportunities for the future.
Being at a loose end, I thought I might head over and see how it goes down – it's very soon, the first week of November in fact.
I'll let you know how it all goes, and will keep you posted as more festival developments come to hand.

Done.

Well, the premiere has been and gone. What a turn out. What a night. Thanks so much to everyone who came along and made it such a memorable night. I hope you enjoyed yourselves.

I had a great night and received loads of really positive feedback about the film. Much of it seemed to be totally genuine. Not that awkward 'better say something positive' thing you have to do sometimes at those events. Well that's how it seemed to me anyway.

I've just arrived in New Zealand where, and I'm finally in front of a computer again. It's been a crazy couple of weeks. Now it's all about getting the film out into the world. I'll be sending it off to the Sundance Film Festival in a few days and many others over the next few months. I'll keep you posted on how we go. Fingers crossed.

I'll be in New Zealand for the next six months. My plan is to really throw myself into some serious screenwriting. If it's alright with you, I might just keep you posted on how that goes too. And you thought it was over...

Lastly, I'd just like to say congratulations to the makers of the short film 'Kindred'. They have just successfully raised the funds to make the film through another IndieGoGo campaign. I wish them all the best with it, and look forward to seeing the end result. Even though they've reached their target, it's not too late to get involved and get yourself some booty: www.indiegogo.com/kindred
